Ferrara and Padua

Ferrara - This quiet orderly city in Emilia is full of history and monuments. The old city centre is protected by UNESCO.
Padua, the city of Saint Antony, is just a few kilometres from Ferrara. It’s Botanical gardens, also in UNESCO’s World Heritage list, date back to 1545 and are regarded as the most ancient university gardens in the world. The university itself dates back to 1222. Other sights include Piazza Prato della Valle, Palazzo del Capitano , Palazzo della Regione, the Scrovegni frescos and statue of Gattamelata by Raffaello.

Next on to Venice by way of the famous Palladian Villas and Mestre.

On the road from Padua to Venice along the Brenta canal you can see the beautiful villas designed in the 1550s by Palladio the renowned architect from Padua. Among the most famous are Villa Barbaro and La Rotonda. Many of the Palladian villas contain frescos by great artists like Veronese and Tiepolo.
Now on to the campsite “Alba d’Oro” at Mestre from where you can get to Venice quickly by bus. Venice is truly a unique city, incomparable and spectacular, full of magnificent buildings and monuments. The riches of St. Mark’s alone bear witness to Venice’s position as a world power from the 12th to the 14th century. The city was originally founded in 421 BC.

Po Delta

The Po is Italy’s longest river. Its vast basin covers some 15 percent of the county and supports around a third of the nation’s population. It offers beautiful subtle landscapes – rows of poplar trees across misty fields and long views over soft brown earth. There are wide views over the shifting sands of the delta, an estuary of marshes, dunes and islands. Along the Adriatic coast there are numerous beaches with a vast array of amenities like campsites, bars restaurants, beach volley ball and football, gyms, etc.

Last visit, Ravenna - city of mosaics

The city rose to power in the 1st century BC under the Roman Emperor Augustus. In AD 402 it was made capital of the Western Empire. Ravenna is renowned for its early Christian mosaics which span the years of Roman and Byzantine rule. (FOTO)
