Next on to Venice by way of the famous Palladian
Villas and Mestre.
On the road from Padua to Venice along the Brenta canal
you can see the beautiful villas designed in the 1550s
by Palladio the renowned architect from Padua. Among the
most famous are Villa Barbaro and La Rotonda. Many of
the Palladian villas contain frescos by great artists
like Veronese and Tiepolo.
Now on to the campsite “Alba d’Oro” at Mestre from where
you can get to Venice quickly by bus. Venice is truly
a unique city, incomparable and spectacular, full of magnificent
buildings and monuments. The riches of St. Mark’s alone
bear witness to Venice’s position as a world power from
the 12th to the 14th century. The city was originally
founded in 421 BC.

Po Delta
The Po is Italy’s longest river. Its vast basin covers
some 15 percent of the county and supports around a third
of the nation’s population. It offers beautiful subtle
landscapes – rows of poplar trees across misty fields
and long views over soft brown earth. There are wide views
over the shifting sands of the delta, an estuary of marshes,
dunes and islands. Along the Adriatic coast there are
numerous beaches with a vast array of amenities like campsites,
bars restaurants, beach volley ball and football, gyms,
etc.
